John Mitchell needs no introduction. As a former or current member of legendary prog acts such as Arena, It Bites!, Kino, Frost*, The John Wetton Band, and many others, Mitchell has made a name for himself as a guitarist, vocalist, producer, songwriter, and jack-of-all-trades. But in 2015, John released the first album of his solo project, Lonely Robot, and 3 years and 2 albums later, he’s ending the trilogy with Under Stars. In this interview, we talk about how the idea of Lonely Robot came about, some of the songwriting and production choices, confusing genre labels, owning your own label, the history of the textile industry, and more.
